Rick Warren wrote in his book, The Purpose Driven Life:

“It’s not about you.

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness.  It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions.  If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God.  You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.”

The Christian faith believes that God is at work in our lives, powerful and in control, yet loving, and able to make everything work out for the best even when things seem impossibly dark.

I wonder about this.  It scares me to believe it, I’m almost embarrassed to believe it, and yet a part of me longs for it to be true.

I don’t know how to reconcile my disdain for religiousness with my longing for God to be real.

What would it even look like?  What does it all mean?
